The Government market segment is comprised of Federal, State and Local agencies and entities. The focus or objective of the agency may be research-based, manufacturing, supply chain management or network operations.
Some good examples of clients in our Government vertical include:
- US State Department
- NSA – Ft. Meade
- Verizon Government
- MIT – Lincoln Lab
- NYC – NYT
This sector is the most convoluted, with rules of engagement that are often clouded by law-enforced mandates for how business is to be conducted. Each agency might have its own set of operational rules, and Federal contract awards often go to large, global fulfillment houses that often are clueless about how a particular product fits into the overall scheme of the project.
Challenges of Maintaining Government Agency Networks
The Government sector is further complicated by the involvement of the many Federal contractors that are employed to perform procurement operations on behalf of the government agency involved. Many larger consulting firms have restrictive requirements about whom they can do business with.
Core Technologies maintains purchaser-vendor relationships with many of the larger Federal contractors, as well as subscription-based vendor database management programs such as Ariba and Transcepta. We do not maintain our own GSA schedule, choosing instead to maintain working relationships with several supply organizations who either maintain GSA schedules of their own (that we can take advantage of) or hold current blanket Purchase Orders that can be used to purchase equipment directly.
Both the end-user and the reseller find value in local independent sales engineers who not only understand the product, but also understand the overall process.
Core Technologies is already an approved vendor for many if not most of these Agencies, and subscribes to their in-house software purchasing systems. Need three quotes? We have many reseller partnerships that we continue to maintain. Have a requirement to compare competitive specifications? We’ll help. Need help in writing a justification, and you have neither the time, nor a good understanding of the relative product capabilities? We’ve done that too.
